Dr. Mohamed A. El-Esawi

Dr. Mohamed El-Esawi is an Associate Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Botany Department of Faculty of Science at Tanta University in Egypt. He has received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Tanta University in Egypt, and his PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Dublin Institute of Technology, Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) in Ireland. Afterwards, Dr. El-Esawi joined the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom as a Visiting Research Fellow. Then, he joined the University of Sorbonne (Pierre and Marie Curie-UPMC) in France as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Following those positions, Dr. El-Esawi joined the Division of Crop Biotechnics of KU Leuven in Belgium as a Research Fellow. Then, he joined the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom as a Visiting Research Fellow. Dr. El-Esawi is very interested in Genetics, Genomics, Transcriptomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics, Molecular Plant Physiology, Developmental Biology, Plant-Microbe Interaction, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics. He has given numerous talks and participated at more than 55 conferences, meetings, and workshops in highly regarded institutions nationally and internationally. He has received several awards and grants from international organizations including DAFF, ASRT, IRO, COST.

Dr. Reinhard Rauch

Biography and Research Interest:

Reinhard has worked as a Junior researcher at the Institute of Chemical Engineering, Vienna University of Technology. He has also worked as a Senior Researcher in the research group “Future Energy Technology” at the Institute of Chemical Engineering, Vienna University of Technology from 2000 to 2010. He also served as the Head of the R & D group Synthetic Biofuels at the Institute of Chemical Engineering, Vienna University of Technology during 2010-2017. He also contributed as a Senior Researcher at the centre of excellence Bioenergy 2020 +. He has worked as an Area manager for Gasification and Synthetic Biofuels at Bioenergy 2020+ amid 2013 to 2017. Lector at the University of Applied Science Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) during 2010-2017. Currently, Reinhard is working as a Professor for “Chemical Conversion of Renewable Energy” at the Engler Bunte Institute of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

Research Interest: Advanced Biofuels, Biomass Gasification, Usage of the gas from biomass gasification for synthesis gas applications (Fischer Tropsch, Methanation, Hydrogen, Alcohols), - Analytics and Measurements of synthesis gas, Optimization of commercial biomass CHPs based on gasification and Hybrid systems of renewable energy with biomass (Power to Liquids).

Biography and Research Interest

Michael Angelo Fatigati has an outstanding 30-year track record of project and technology development in the Bioenergy and Biofuels arena, including significant contributions to advanced ethanol production from cellulosic feedstock’s, thermochemical conversion of biomass for the purposes of energy generation and biofuels production.  He significantly contributed to the startup of two pilot plants in Japan (up to 2 TPD) for the production of ethanol from wood chips.  He has worked in the areas of project development, including the development of a first of a kind concentrated acid hydrolysis facility for ethanol production and a pioneer 10 MMGPY corn-to-ethanol plant in California.  He has contributed in the areas of algal fermentation (heterotrophic and mixotrophic strains) for nutraceutical production, cellulose hydrolysis (enzymatic and biochemical), thermochemical conversion of biomass for ethanol and lactic acid production, corn dry mill technology, alcohol synthesis, biodiesel production, and power generation.  He has consulted for confidential domestic and international banking and industrial clients in the area of bioenergy and biofuels production. 

Amir Hossein Shahirinia

Biography and Research Interest:

Amir Shahirinia (S’05–M’14) received B.S. and M.S. degrees from K.N.Toosi University of Tech., Tehran, Iran, and PhD from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Electrical Engineering in 2003, 2005, and 2014, respectively. He also performed postdoctoral studies with the power electronics group at Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradly) from 2014 to 2016. He is currently an Assistant Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of the District of Columbia, Washington D.C. He is also the director of the Center of Excellence for Renewable Energy (CERE). His research background encompasses the areas of power systems and power electronics and ranges from optimal planning of renewable energy grid integration systems (REGIS), modeling and intelligent real-time control of REGIS, Bayesian statistical analysis and predictive modeling of REGIS, to power electronics and motor drives.

Members in the state level steering committee for Biofuels, state of Uttar Pradesh, India. Worked as a Marketing and Corporate strategist at GOCL Ltd till 2007, established global marketing network for castor oil based oleochemicals, thereafter started as an Independent Strategic consultation in the field of green Energy(Biodiesel) including the Renewable from tree borne oils, used cooking oil. Successfully Helped seed technology companies like SGB, USA and JOil Singapore setting up Jatropha plantations in India. 

Dr. Hossain M. Zabed

 Biography and Research Interest

Dr Hossain M. Zabed is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Food & Biological Engineering, Jiangsu University, China. His major research focuses are Biofuels, Bio products, Metabolic engineering, Pathway optimization, Fermentation technology, Industrial Microbiology and Bioactive Compounds. As a young and dedicated researcher, he published more than 30 research materials on biomass, bioenergy and microbial biosynthesis in the last 5 years, which included peer-reviewed journal articles, highly cited papers, book chapters and conference proceedings. Dr Zabed is serving as an Editorial board member of three journals and a peer reviewer of more than 15 journals. He is an active member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM).
